Notaufnahmelager

Am 14. April 1953 weihte der damalige Bundespräsident Theodor Heuss an der Marienfelder Allee 66-80 das zentrale Notaufnahmelager für Flüchtlinge und Übersiedler aus der DDR ein. Das Lager war eine Gründung aus der Not. Die Fluchtbewegung aus der DDR befand sich auf einem Höhepunkt. West-Berlin war davon besonders betroffen, denn seit die DDR-Regierung die innerdeutsche Grenze ab Mai 1952 abzuriegeln begann, konzentrierte sich der Flüchtlingsstrom auf die geteilte Stadt, wo die Sektorengrenzen zwischen Ost und West noch passierbar waren.
